Teenage skin is notorious for being problematic, we all know the frustration of an unsightly zit showing up in the middle of your face just before an important event like a prom or a date.
With so many skin care tips for teenagers out there it’s often hard to know which ones to try.
Taking care of your skin is important at any age, but particularly in those awkward teenage years. It’s widely known that taking care of your skin throughout your teens leads to healthier skin and a healthier skincare routine as an adult.
Here are some of skin care tips for teenagers to help you establish a good skincare routine:
1. Avoid Foundation
Not only does foundation clog pores, but it is also too heavy for young skin. When you reach your late twenties or thirties, foundation is great – but as a teenager, tinted moisturiser gives enough coverage and is gentle enough on your skin to be used every day without damaging your skin.
2. Don’t rub concealer – pat it
Rubbing concealer is the ultimate beauty no-no. If you start rubbing your concealer in your teens, the thin layer of skin under your eyes becomes stretched, and you’ll get some premature wrinkles before long.
3. Don’t overdo it
You absolutely don’t need foundation, powder, concealer, mascara, eyeliner, blusher, bronzer etc all on your face at one time. Let your skin breathe, a little tinted moisturiser, some powder to reduce shine, and a small amount of mascara is enough. Any more and your make-up will look caked on, and will clog your pores, causing breakouts.
4. Wash your face every day
A good facial scrub will clean all the dirt from your pores and take away the dead skin that can irritate your skin and keep dirt trapped in your pores. I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to clean your face thoroughly every day, both before you apply your make-up and every night before bed.
5. Moisturise
Moisturising will keep your skin soft and supple, and some also help to combat acne.
6. Treat yourself to a face mask
Every 2-4 weeks, lie back, put on some soft music and lie back with a face mask on. While you chill out, the face mask is working hard to remove toxins, clear your pores and remove dirt from your face.
